COVID-Secure Workplace

Probably the biggest challenge for all of us, as we emerge out of lock-down, is the safe and staggered reopening of public buildings, transport networks and offices.

The Country cannot afford a big resurgence of COVID-19 cases. However, for a pathogen like this one, that is exactly what will happen if we return to our old behaviour without taking the proper precautions.

There are a number of measures that are being put in place across workplaces and public transport networks to mitigate the risks and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Whilst it is not possible to guarantee a COVID-Secure Workplace, there are many steps we can take to minimise risk.

We work with many local and national organisations who are tasked with reopening as much, as safely as possible. Here we outline some of the steps being taken to ensure optimum health & safety during this time.

Cleaning and Coronavirus

It is well-known that a safe, careful and consistent cleaning regime is the best defence we have against the spread of COVID-19.

We are aware of potential problems involved with allowing large numbers of people in confined areas, and are able to work with businesses and organisations to offer products that will update and enhance their already established cleaning programs.

Safe Commuting and Travelling

We are aware of the pressures being faced by businesses and organisations looking to get their workforce back and operating as normal.

Whilst we can all do our best to provide COVID Secure Workspaces, we are less able to ensure employee safety whilst commuting to and from work.

To ensure safe travelling passengers we advise that that all staff should adhere to the following guidelines when possible:

  • Wear a face covering
  • Keep 2 metres apart from others where possible
  • Wash your hands before and after your journey
  • Carry a hand sanitiser or use sanitiser points at stations
  • Use contactless or Oyster to pay for your travel

Follow government advice for safer travel and check the safer travel information sheet

Face Masks

Government guidance suggests that face coverings should be worn for the entirety of journeys on public transport networks.

Evidence suggests that by wearing a face covering you dramatically reduce the chances of passing Coronavirus onto others.

You are not allowed to get on public transport if you are not wearing a face covering, unless you have a legitimate reason for not wearing one. Not doing so could result in a fine.

Avoid public transport if possible

As we mentioned before, the more people there are packed into a space the more likely it is the virus will be able to spread.

For this reason, a key piece of guidance is that you should seek alternative modes of transport such as existing walking or cycling routes.

If you must use public transport it is recommended that you try and avoid rush hour peak times between 05:45-08:15 and 16:00-17:30.

Final Words

It is important that everyone does their best in the coming months to maintain high levels of sanitation and follow government guidelines.

To this end it’s encouraged that everyone follows the advice listed above and contacts a member of our team to discuss the most effective disinfectant solutions available to them.
